With the arrival of new head coach Mike London in the spring of 2010, he walked on to the football team as a wide receiver. Hodges then competed for, and ultimately won, the job as holder on field goals and PATs. Between 2010 and 2012 Hodges appeared in 37 games as the holder on every field goal and PAT attempt. His only career collegiate pass was completed for a 16-yard touchdown on a fake field goal in 2010 against Maryland to fullback Terrence Fells-Danzer.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Maryland at Virginia 2010 )〕 Hodges had helped the Cavaliers convert another fake field goal the week before at Duke by flipping the ball over his shoulder to kicker Rob Randolph, who ran 20 yards for a touchdown.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Virginia at Duke 2010 )〕 Hodges also rushed three times for 29 yards on fake field goal attempts. His career long of 20 yards came during a key Thursday night game at Miami (FL) in 2011 and gave the Cavaliers a first down.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Virginia at Miami (FL) 2011 )〕
